The history of science, showbiz, sports or politics shows us many stories of success obtained by with perseverance and hard work. The important matter is to walk on your own way, no matter of what and who stands in your way. Not all the people are well intended or have the knowledge to estimate talents or to emit verdicts. It is all in your power!

To sustain my words, here are some examples of personalities that, even if nobody believed in them, were working harder and harder to become living legends and to be acknowledged after generations and generations:

1 – The Dutch painter Van Gogh sold only one painting during his life. The buyer was his sister which payed him a very low price. But that did not stop to paint over 800 paintings in his career. Later he would become one of the most famous painters in history, one of his paintings being sold in our days at astronomical price (82 million dollars in 1990)

2 – The King of Rock and Roll – the one and the only Elvis Presley was fired after only one performance in 1954 by Jimmy Denny, manager of the Grand Ole Opry. He said: “You will not get nowhere, son. Better you go back to driving trucks.” After only 2 years, in 1956, Elvis was releasing his first big hit – “Heartbreak Hotel” and become the most famous singer of all times.

3- The composer Ludwig van Beethoven was considered by her teachers “with no chance as a composer. ” He did not listen to them and thus wrote five of the best symphonies of his being … completely deaf!

4- The great physician, mathematician and inventor Albert Einstein did not speak up to four years and did not read until seven. One teacher described it as “slow-witted, unsociable and always lost in stupid dreams” He was expelled from school and lost his admission to the Polytechnic in Zurich. He has become maybe the most important scientist from all times.

5 – one of the most well known athletes from all times and definitely the best basketball player ever, Michael Jordan has been kicked out of high school basketball team. Jordan said: “I failed many times in life. That’s why I succeeded.”

6 – Winston Churchill was forced to repeat the sixth grade, due to the bad results; then every time he candidate was defeated, until he turned 62 and became Prime Minister of Great Britain. He later become one of the most famous politicians and a remarkable figure of the history during the World War II

7 – In 1944, Emmeline Snively, director of modeling agency, told aspiring model Norma Jean Baker, “You better learn to be a secretary or find a husband.” Later on, the aspiring model became Marilyn Monroe, a idol and a role model for woman form all over world but nobody has ever heard of Emmeline Snively!

8 – Charles Darwin gave up a career in medicine, his father telling him: “You don’t care for nothing but to catch dogs and rats.” In his biography, Darwin wrote: “I was considered by my father and all teachers as a very ordinary boy, in fact even lower than average standard of intelligence.” Darwin has became one of the most prominent figures of the 19-th century, his work “On the Origin of Species” being the most famous theory relating the appearance of life on Earth.

9 – Walt Disney was fired by the editor of a newspaper, charged that he has no imagination and absolutely no good ideas. He went bankrupt several times to build Disneyland. Moreover, the park proposal was refused because it was thought that would not attract anyone. In our days, Disneyland has become a wide international network of thematic parks and, the original park created by Walt Disney in Anaheim, California is visited annually by more than 15 million people from all over the world.

10 – Thomas Edison’s teachers told him that he is “too stupid to learn anything.” He was fired from his first two jobs of being considered unproductive. As an inventor, has made 1,000 unsuccessful inventions, before able to invent the lightning bulb. His invention become today one of the most important inventions of all times.

How the World would look like if those people gave up when they’ve been told to?

Each and everyone of them had a great success and proved, once again, that you have to follow your dream no matter what stands in your way. Don’t forget this examples next time when somebody says that you have no chance to succeed. Even if you fail, keep on trying! Eventually you will succeed and maybe, you will be someday put as an example, together with the personalities listed above.

Success!!!
